As a full-range supplier, we stock hot rolled steel sheets and plates in an extensive spectrum of qualities and dimensions. In addition to standard formats, we stock widths of 2,250, 2,750, 3,250, 3,500 and 4,000 mm, lengths of up to 16,000 mm and unit weights of up to 50 tons, depending on grade and thickness.

With a stock of approx. 60,000 tons of heavy plate, UnionStahl is the full-range supplier in the heavy plate sector with close and cooperative links to all European heavy plate manufacturers.

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time and reducing CO₂ emissions is a social priority. The demand for products with minimal emissions is therefore constantly increasing. This encourages steel producers to minimize their carbon footprint and promote the production of fossil-free steel. Steel continues to play a decisive role as an indispensable Steel grades in numerous industries.

UnionStahl already offers a range of green steel that is produced with minimal emissions. Green steel sheets up to 3,800 mm wide and 14,000 mm long are currently in stock. Green steel is produced with significantly lower CO₂ emissionsthan conventional steel. This is achieved through the use of electric arc furnaces. Steel production in the electric arc furnace mainly uses scrap and the energy comes from fossil-free sources. More and more steel producers are expanding this sustainable production and are planning to shut down coal-fired blast furnaces.

Climate-neutral steel production

The term CO₂-free steel is used when the electricity required for production comes from environmentally friendly, fossil-free sources. Another step towards climate-neutral steel production is the use of green hydrogen. This reduces the iron ore chemically and produces iron. The resulting sponge iron is further processed into crude steel in an electric arc furnace.
